Since the mid to late 20th century, the bubble gum industry has developed from a single flavor to diversified flavors, personalized packaging, and creative styling. To attract children and enhance the fun of their products, manufacturers have gradually introduced non-traditional shapes such as button shaped, spherical, and animal shaped designs. Among them, button shaped bubble gum has rapidly risen in the market due to its convenient independent packaging, low adhesion, and novel appearance, which is in line with the creative trend of leisure food.

Nigerian client BILLY contacted Mr. Yang, the Sales Director of Zhonghong Machinery Equipment Factory, through a friend's introduction, and requested a customized button shaped bubble gum production line. Mr. Yang immediately requested the client to provide samples for technical analysis.

The parameters of the button shaped bubble gum sample provided by the customer are: diameter of 2.1cm, thickness of 1cm, weight of approximately 3.0g, and no sandwich. The Zhonghong Machinery technical team has proposed two molding solutions based on the characteristics of this product:

 

 

Option 1: Stamping Machine Solution

  • Technical principle: A stamping machine is used to mold the continuously conveyed sugar bars, and the precise pressing of the button shape is achieved through the clamping action of the upper and lower molds.
  • Capacity advantage: The equipment has a high degree of automation, with an hourly capacity of over 280kg, suitable for large-scale production.
  • Cost and noise: Equipment investment is relatively high, operating noise is high (about 85 decibels), and maintenance costs are relatively higher.

 

Option 2: Forming Machine Solution

  • Technical principle: Based on the existing spherical bubble gum production line, the molding machine is modified to rotate and cut continuously rolled sugar sheets by customizing button shaped die rolls.
  • Capacity and cost: The hourly capacity is about 180-220kg, slightly lower than the stamping solution, but it has the advantages of low noise (about 65 decibels), easy operation, low energy consumption, and low maintenance costs, making the overall cost-effectiveness higher.
  • Product quality: By optimizing the cooling and conveying system, the shape of the product is ensured to be complete and the surface is smooth after cutting, with a stable yield rate of over 95%.

 

Project Implementation: Customized Services Driven by Customer Needs

 

After comprehensive evaluation of their market sales and factory conditions, the client BILLY chose the forming machine solution. The Zhonghong Machinery team has customized and developed specialized mold rollers based on this, and optimized the cooling and conveying systems of the production line to ensure that the products maintain their complete shape and surface smoothness after cutting.

After debugging, the yield rate remained stable at over 95%, and the customer highly recognized the consistency of product appearance and the stability of equipment operation. At present, the production line has been successfully put into operation, helping BILLY launch button shaped bubble gum with differentiated competitiveness in the local market, further enriching the product line and enhancing brand appeal.
